Awards Announced by Maryland’s Largest Technology Trade Association
LANDOVER, Md. – May 19, 2014 – Today, 2U, Inc. (NASDAQ: TWOU), a leading provider of cloud-based software-as-a service solutions for leading nonprofit colleges and universities to deliver high-quality education online, announces it was recognized as the 2014 Technology Firm of the Year by the Tech Council of Maryland (TCM), Maryland’s largest technology trade association.
The honor was awarded at the TCM Industry Awards Celebration, an annual event at which TCM recognizes the leaders and innovators in the technology and life sciences communities from Maryland and the surrounding regions. More than 900 technology, life science, government, academia, and business industry executives were in attendance at the ceremony on May 15.
“To be acknowledged by the Tech Council of Maryland as one of the state’s leading tech firms is a true honor,” said Chip Paucek, 2U co-founder and CEO. “This award would not be possible without the hard work of each 2U contributor, all of whom believe strongly in the vision of harnessing technology to further education.”
The TCM Industry Award comes on the heels of 2U’s recent recognitions, including winning the Return on Education (ROE) Innovation Award at the prestigious ASU+GSV Education Innovation Summit. Glassdoor also named Chip Paucek one of the five highest ranked CEOs in the U.S. among small- to medium-sized companies and ranked 2U among the Top-20 Best Medium-Sized Companies to Work for in 2014.
Nominees in the Technology Firm of the Year category included Acumen Solutions; American Technology Services, Inc.; Digital Management, Inc.; Mindgrub; and Notable Solutions.
